Some X users report that Chinese-language searches on the platform are overwhelmed by spam and illicit ads, making it difficult to find reliable information.
Responding to the complaints, X’s Head of Product Nikita Bier said the Chinese government (CCP) deliberately floods X search results with pornographic content during periods of political unrest to block citizens from accessing real-time information, and added that they have “a pool of 5–10 million accounts” that were registered before X locked down signups.
